Nourishing and Bearing Your Testimony

by | Nov 26, 2022 | 2022 October, Missionary

I felt inspired to start this blog – jensenmuse.com – after hearing this General Conference talk from Elder Stevenson. For my years I’ve played with the idea of staring a blog, in facted installed WordPress multiple times, hired Fiverr freelancers to assist, had workgroup meetings with friends, family and ward members to create a WordPress blogging community but it euthesium fizzed out after a few weeks. Then, from this talk, that I would share my testimony and love of Jesus Christ over the internet excited me. I am so grateful for the comfort I’ve received from Jesus and members of the Church, I just want to share it with others who might be dealing with anxiety, depression or lonliness.

I invite you to seek opportunities to bear your testimony in word and in deed…I offered a witness that Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God and the Savior of the world. Everything changed at that moment. The Spirit in the room was undeniable. It seemed everyone was touched.

Four questions you can reflect and ponder upon with regard to your testimony in our Savior, Jesus Christ:

1-Do I know and understand what a testimonry is?

It is your belief or knowledge of truth given as a spiritual witness through the influence of the Holy Ghost. Acquiring this witness will change what you say and how you act. Key elements of your testimony, confirmed by the Holy Ghost, include”

  • God is your Heavenly Father; you are His child. He loves you
  • Jesus Christ lives. He is the Son of the living God and your Savior and Redeemer
  • Joseph Smith is a prophet of God called to restore the Church of Jesus Christ
  • The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is God’s restored Church on the earth
  • The restored Church of Jesus Christ is led by a living prophet today

2-Do I know how to bear my testimony?

Bearing my testimony is a unique phrase. Bearing is to hold up, support or sustain. To bear my testimony is equivalent to holding up a light in the darkness, or in the case of my testimony, it is to share my belief and knowledge of Jesus Christ to others.

A Gift of Light by Eva Koleva Timothy

Therefore, hold up your light that it may shine unto the world. Behold I am the light which ye shall hold up – that which ye have seen me do.

3 Nephi 18:24

3-What are the obstacles in sharing my testimony?

4-How do I keep my testimony?

I keep my testimony of Jesus Christ by remembering it is about Him, not me.

Lead, Kindly Light by Simon Dewey

And it came to pass that Jesus blessed them as they did pray unto him; and his countenance did smile upon them, and the light of his countenance did shine upon them, and behold they were white as the countenance and also the garments of Jesus; and behold the whiteness thereof did exceed all the whiteness, yea, even there could be nothing upon earth so white as the whiteness thereof.

3 Nephi 19:25
