Moving your mountains may require a miracle. Learn about miracles. Miracles come according to your faith in the Lord. Central to that faith is trusting His will and timetable – how and when He will bless you with the miraculous help you desire. Only your unbelief will keep God from blessing you with miracles to move the mountains in your life.

Recognize Your Healings

“I taught Ephraim also to go, taking them by their arms; but they knew not that I healed them.” (Hosea 11:3)

Brightness of Hope

“We did not come this far only to come this far”

A Perfect Brightness of Hope by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, General Conference April 2020. Quoting Judith Mahlangu

I Found God in my Afflicitions

Jesus doesn’t save me FROM my afflicitions but saves me IN my afflicitions, trials and adversity. When Jesus preaches the Sermon on the Mount he talks about how you are blessed when you are experience these terrible things (poor in spirit, mourn, hunger and thirst, persecuted for righteousness sake, men shall revile you, persecute you, say evil against you falsely). How are you blessed and who blesses you? We are blessed and comforted by Jesus.

In my experience, I feel like I’m in the eye of the hurricane. Yes everything is being destroyed around me (family members letting go of Jesus’ hand and travelling on forbidden paths, leaving the covenant path, embracing sin, and so on) but I feel a calm.

For all of our afflicitions, God prepares a way for us to be delivered from them, through His abundant mercy, love and power. “…He sent fiery flying serpents among them; and after they were bitten he prepared a way that they might be healed; and the labor which they had to perform was to look…” (1 Nephi 17:41)

Martha and Lazarus

Martha is a perfect example of wanting Jesus to save us from the trial.

5 Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus

6 When he had heard therefore that he was sick, [Jesus] abode two days still in the same place where he was.

14 Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.

15 And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.

21 Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.

John 11:5,6,14,15,21

Martha is saying you could avoided all this pain we have gone through if you were here and saved us FROM Lazarus dying. When Jesus heard the news, he waited two days before leaving, why? Is it that he only works miracles after the trial of our faith? Then in verse 15 he says for our benefit he was glad he wasn’t there. Seems like our faith is stretched to the point of breaking then Jesus saves us, when the test is over. But if Jesus saved us from the pain of growing how would we learn about the comfort he gives us? We did not come to earth to be seeds and stay seeds until we die? No, we are here to grow, to increase our talents, to gain relationships, especially the relationship with Jesus.

The Savior is never closer to you than when you are facing or climbing a mountain with faith.

“…whoso cometh in at the gate and climbeth up by me shall never fall; wherefore, blessed are they of whom I have spoken, for they shall come forth with songs of everlasting joy.”

Moses 7:53

Where did Shadrack, Meshach and Abed-nego find God? In the fiery furnace of their afflictions. “…the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego. And these three men…fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied [bewildered], and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king. He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.” (Daniel 3:22-25)

Where did Jesus find God? After his fasting 40-days and heeding not the temptations of Satan (Matthew 4:1-11). “Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.” (Matthew 4:11).

Gethsemane by Carl Bloch

When Jesus was suffering for my sins in the Garden of Gethsemane. “Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.” (Luke 22:42-43)

The Children of Israel found God when bitten by poisonous snakes. “And the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died. Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord, and against thee; pray unto the Lord, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people. And the Lord said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live. And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.” (Numbers 21:6-9)

Christ and the Book of Mormon Children

“And it came to pass that he commanded that their little children should be brought. So they brought their little children and set them down upon the ground round about him, and Jesus stood in the midst; and the multitude gave way till they had all been brought unto him. And it came to pass that when they had all been brought, and Jesus stood in the midst, he commanded the multitude that they should kneel down upon the ground.” (3 Nephi 17:11-13) “And they arose from the earth, and he said unto them: Blessed are ye because of your faith. And now behold, my joy is full. And when he had said these words, he wept, and the multitude bare record of it, and he took their little children, one by one, and blessed them, and prayed unto the Father for them.” (3 Nephi 17:20-21) We find Jesus when we are in our afflictions as is the case with Shadrach, but in this case, we find Jesus with our little children, blessing them individually.

Christ Walking on the Water

“But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. And in the fourth watch (between 3am-6am) of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea…an when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.” (Matthew 14:24-25,32) it appears Jesus is interested in our growth (instead of our comfort) as we are stressed to our breaking point, to the fourth watch, then he will rescue us, comfort the storms in our life. Jesus will walk on water to save us.

Satan’s Lies To Keep from Jesus

1. You are weak if you ask for help

Satan tries to tell us we all need to be the same with his communist ideal, but if it is organized religion, then he says you must be yourself – free to be in nature, find your own path God. In other words, stray from the protection of the flock so he can easily devour you as a hungry wolf. He also says you are strong if you follow the organized social media but weak if you join a religion of common believers, in particular, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. That church members are weak when they strive for inter-dependence, a help and reliance on one another.

I sat on a plane next to a professed atheist who pressed his disbelief in God so urgently that I bore my testimony to him…As we parted, I heard him mutter, ‘I don’t need your religion for a crutch! I don’t need it.

The Candle of the Lord by Elder Boyd K. Packer

2. Challenge we are children of God

The voices in our head that tells we can’t do it, fear of failure, that God would never forgive us, and so on. These are lies by Satan. We are similar to Jesus, he was mortal from his mother Mary yet immortal from our Heavenly Father. We have mortal bodies but an immortal spirit. Satan wants us to focus on our weaknesses that we all have. Jesus wants us to see our strengths, which again, we all have.

We are sons and daughters of an immortal, loving, and all-powerful Father in Heaven. We are created as much from the dust of eternity as we are from the dust of the earth. Every one of us has potential we can scarcely imagine.

Fundamentals of Miracles

It appears we need these three things to obtain miracles in our life: 1) believe in Jesus Christ, 2) exercise obedience to whatever Jesus says, 3) act in faith.

1-Believe in Jesus – doubt nothing

Matt 21:22 “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.”

Mark 9:23 “Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.”

Matt 19: 26 “But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.”

Mark 10:24,27 “…how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!…with men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.”

19 And if there were miracles wrought then, why has God ceased to be a God of miracles and yet be an unchangeable Being? And behold, I say unto you he changeth not; if so he would cease to be God; and he ceaseth not to be God, and is a God of miracles.

20 And the reason why he ceaseth to do miracles among the children of men is because that they dwindle in unbelief, and depart from the right way, and know not the God in whom they should trust.

21 Behold, I say unto you that whoso believeth in Christ, doubting nothing, whatsoever he shall ask the Father in the name of Christ it shall be granted him; and this promise is unto all, even unto the ends of the earth.

Mormon 9:19-21

3-Act in Faith

30 For the brother of Jared said unto the mountain Zerin, Remove – and it was removed. And if he had not had faith it would not have moved; wherefore thou workest after men have faith.

Ether 12:30
