Peacemakers Needed

Prince of Peace by Simon Dewey

  • how we treat each other really matters!
  • Please listen carefully. “If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy” (Articles of Faith 1:13) that we can say about another person – whether to his face or behind her back – that should be our standard of communication.
  • Contention drives away the Spirit – every time.
  • Charity is the antidote to contention.
  • When we humble ourselves before God and pray with all the energy of our hearts, God will grant us charity.
  • In situations that are highly charged and filled with contention, I invite you to remember Jesus Christ. Pray to have the courage and wisdom to say or do what He would.
  • Now is the time to lay aside bitterness. Now is the time to cease insisting that it is your way or no way. Now is the time to stop doing things that make others walk on eggshells for fear of upsetting you. Now is the time to bury your weapons of war.
    • “…they were firm, and would suffer even unto death rather than commit sin; and thus we see that they buried their weapons of peace, or they buried the weapons of war, for peace.” (Alma 24:19)
  • The temple can help us…we are endowed with God’s power, giving us the ability to overcome Satan…cast him out of your relationships.
    • “And we ask thee, Holy Father, that thy servants may go forth from this house armed with thy power, and that thy name may be upon them, and thy glory be round about them, and thine angels have charge over them; That no combination of wickedness shall have power to rise up and prevail over thy people upon whom thy name shall be put in this house;” (D&C 109:22,26)
